LONDON: Juergen Klopp says he will put his Liverpool players through a fourteen day “pre-season” in front of their Champions League last against Tottenham Hotspur.
The players have been allowed a couple of days off to recuperate from a difficult Premier League battle in which they drove Manchester City to the last day in the title race, in the long run missing out by one point.
They will reconvene one week from now to get ready for the masterpiece meeting with Spurs at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on June 1.
“We need to complete two or three things in anticipation of the Champions League, media stuff,” Klopp told the club’s site.
“We need to do that, at that point the young men will have a few days off and after that we have two legitimate a long time as a pre-season for the Champions League last.
“We will do that, we will play that, (ideally) win it, get back home and afterward the general population get what they merit.”
Liverpool, who crushed Barcelona to achieve their second back to back Champions League last appearance, are offering for their 6th European Cup, which would be their first bit of flatware under Klopp.
